Well we are off and running. We have begun step one of rolling over to organic, which includes getting more information on the process and all that has to be done to get our certification.
As a licensed Naturopathic Physician, Tony believes strongly that the quality of the food we eat has a direct result on our health. And the entire Carvalho family believes strongly in supporting locally grown, afterall, we are in the business of growing locally. Moving our nursery over to organic is just a natural step in bringing our lives in line with our work.
For 2008 we hope to offer organic garden starts and herbs. If we are really lucky and ambitious you might even see some vegetables. Since most folks really have no idea of what it entails to be or to get certified organic, I thought I’d blog on our journey.
Also, I wanted to share some links with you all, mainly Green Market, where we sale most of our products. Go Green Market! And another link to Winter Sun Farms . I found out about Winter Sun Farms in the Poughkeepsie Journal. They are an organization, that gathers produce from farms at the end of the season, then freezes it and sells their frozen vegetables throughout the winter. I bought a share this year and I am really excited about what they have to offer.
